The blog title comes from two of my favorite things: green tea (I have been known to drink it mixed with lemonade and peach syrup from a famous coffeehouse with a green and white logo) and a staple to most library professionals’ wardrobes. It took me way too long to come up with the title and it still isn’t that creative.
Anyway, about me…
I’m currently a Library Services Manager for one of an academic library’s branch libraries. In this position, I manage a staff of seven full time employees & five work study students. Outside of management/supervising, I am responsible for a significant portion of the library’s statistics, maintaining our study room reservation system for our location, representing my department on various teams and making sure the building stays operating and in good condition. Previously I worked as Library Services Assistant III for the same library where I dabbled in chat reference and did many of the same tasks as above. I have also worked for three public libraries and one other university library.
My husband, 3 year old son, and I moved to San Antonio a few years ago from Virginia Beach, VA. I am currently working on my MLS through the University of North Texas’s distance learning program, which I will receive in December of 2017. My favorite things about Texas are the nearly year round warm weather, the wild flowers, tacos on tacos on tacos, and being closer to my husband’s family in OKC. The biggest things I miss about Virginia Beach are my friends and previous coworkers and being 20 minutes from the beach… and KROGER. I just cannot with H-E-B.
I enjoy reading historical fiction, Erik Larson and other gritty reads-like-fiction-non-fiction and guilty pleasures such as Charlaine Harris and Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum & Lizzie and Diesel series. My favorite TV shows include or have included Dexter, Veep, True Blood, Jeopardy, The Walking Dead, Turn: Washington’s Spies and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Game of Thrones and Stranger Things.
